Orthoss® spongious granules are also available in 7g (approx. 20 cm3) with 2 - 4 mm granules and 5g (approx. 13 cm3) with 2 - 4 mm granules.
The Orthoss® 5g spongious granules are between 1 and 2 mm in size with a resulting volume of about 13 cm3. It is especially suited to treat small to medium sized defects for example after trauma, treatment of bone cysts, during arthrodesis or during vertebral fusion as cage filling material.
The smaller sized granules of the Orthoss® 5g can be used to form a bone graft putty by mixing it with bone marrow aspirate or bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC).
The Orthoss® 7g spongious granules are between 2 and 4 mm in size with a resulting volume of about 20 cm3. In combination with autologous bone or bone marrow aspirate concentrate (BMAC), Orthoss® is especially suited for the treatment of critical sized defects or defects with an impaired bone healing ability. Examples include bone cysts, revision arthroplasty or during posterolateral vertebral fusion.
Orthoss® 7g is successfully used in hip revision arthroplasty in patients with significant osteolysis of the acetabulum with a Paprosky IIIa defect or in TKA revision surgery in patients with severe aseptic loosening of the tibial component due to polyethylene debris.
Orthoss® granules are also available in 3g (approx. 8 cm3) with 2 - 4 mm granules and 5g (approx. 13cm3) with 1 - 2 mm granules.
The Orthoss® Block is ideal for indications where granules are not as suitable. Examples for use are as bone graft substitute in high tibial osteotomy (HTO), Revision anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), tibial plateau fracture, bone cysts or arthrodesis.
After wetting with blood or saline solution, the block can easily be shaped with a suitable instrument, e.g. a scalpel. The excellent hydrophilicity and capillarity ensure complete and spontaneous wetting without vacuum perfusion making Orthoss® immediately applicable.
Orthoss® Block is also available as 2 x 2 x 1.3 cm Block.
