Geistlich Select REGENFAST®

Make an impact with new REGENFAST®

For faster regenerative treatment solutions

Geistlich takes pride in the quality and safety of our products. Strict manufacturing processes and rigorous testing ensure that all Geistlich products exceed established regulatory requirements. We are proud to offer REGENFAST®, a product of the family-owned company Mastelli, in 3rd generation founded in 1952, who manufactures unique biologics containing polynucleotides (PN) and hyaluronic acid (HA). They are indicated to protect the tissues of the oral cavity and promote faster and more physiological repair.

REGENFAST® facilitate tissue repair

REGENFAST® a sterile viscoelastic gel is the first product in dentistry that combines PN and HA.1

The PN are substances of natural origin, ubiquitous in the body, here highly purified and resorbable.1 PN are known for their unique ability to create a hydrated, trophic, and protective microenvironment that promotes cell development and vitality for reparative purposes.1

HA is the one of the essential components of the extracellular matrix and imparts mechanical and elastic properties to the tissue.1

REGENFAST® promotes the microenvironment and enhances cell vitality to support more efficient repair.1

Clinical Cases

REGENFAST® in the treatment of infrabony defects

Case by Prof. Francesco Cairo

The Situation

The present patient (65 yrs old, male, no smoker) showed stage IV, grade C, generalized periodontitis. After causal related therapy, residual pockets were scheduled for periodontal surgery. At that time, periodontal regeneration with REGENFAST® and Geistlich Bio-Oss® at central incisor was scheduled.

Pre-Operative Situation

Periodontal regeneration is the treatment of choice for residual infrabony defect according to international guidelines.

The Approach

Periodontal flap surgery including simplified papillary preservation was performed.

After gentle debridement of infrabony defects, REGENFAST® was applied over exposed root and in combination with Geistlich Bio-Oss® small granules. Care was then taken to obtain primary soft tissue closure to improve healing with probing depth reduction.

Outcome

To treat the residual pocket associated with a deep, not containing infrabony defect, REGENFAST® mixed with Geistlich Bio-Oss® small granules in combination with papillary preservation flap.

Keys to Success

Periodontal regeneration combining REGENFAST® with Geistlich Bio-Oss® small granules seems to provide promising effects in not containing deep infrabony defect.

Root coverage of multiple gingival recessions with Geistlich Fibro-Gide® and REGENFAST®

Case by Dr. Daniele Cardaropoli

The Situation

The patient (aged 56 years) presents with an aesthetic request in the upper quadrants with recessions and dental sensitivity problems. The patient showed no systemic pathology and did not smoke. Clinical examination revealed multiple recessions throughout the maxilla, often associated with enamel abrasions.

Pre-Operative Situation

The goal of the treatment was to improve esthetics and remedy the tooth sensitivity through complete recession coverage.

The Approach

To avoid residual scarring, a coronally advanced envelope flap with partial-full-partial thickness was planned, adequately passivated to allow introduction of the volume stable matrix in view of the need to increase soft-tissue thickness as well. Geistlich Fibro-Gide® was then soaked in REGENFAST® polynucleotide gel and after a few minutes placed at 13 to 23 at the cementoenamel junction. The flap had then to be advanced coronally in order to totally cover the matrix without tension.

Outcome

This case demonstrates how the esthetic and functional demand for coverage of a multiple recession was met with Geistlich Fibro-Gide® and REGENFAST®. The use of the matrix avoided autologous connective tissue harvesting, and REGENFAST® promoted better and faster tissue healing. The stability of the result in terms of both root coverage and increased soft-tissue thickness is noteworthy.

Keys to Success

The use of REGENFAST® combined with Geistlich Fibro-Gide® allows for complete root coverage and optimal soft tissue thickness enhancement.
